HOW TO APPLY FOR A CR12
CR12 is the official document that is issued by the Company Registrar that provides details on the shareholding or directorship of a company.
It lists the directors or shareholders of the company and the respective amount of shares. It also lists company nominal shares, date of registration, and postal address. By issuing this document, the Company Registrar is confirming that the company’s records at the registry are in check.
CR12 form is an important document since it outlines details of any debentures, charges, and encumbrances registered against the business. The registered office from where the business conducts its operations is also indicated on the CR12 form.
The Registrar of Companies puts his signature on the CR12 form. The form is a mandatory requirement when opening a bank account for the company and applying for government tenders.
A company can apply for the form if:
✓After the company has been incorporated.
✓After the annual returns have been filed.
✓When changes have been made to the shareholding of the company.
✓When changes are made to the directorship of the business.
✓After the company records an increase or decrease in the share capital.
Steps to Apply for the CR12 Form therefore include;
✓ login into your e-citizen account.
✓Select business registration service and click make an application.
✓On the list of services that will look up select”OFFICIAL SEARCH (THIRD PARTY APPLICATIONS)”
✓Click on apply now to proceed with application
✓Enter the business name or the business registration number then click on search to proceed
✓ Once the name of the business appears on the screen, select it then click on next Enter the postal address and the postal code of the business then click on save and continue ✓Proceed to pay for the service. Payment for this service can be made via M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mobikash, EazzyPay, or E-Agent.
✓ after making the payment click on complete.
The process will take a week for the company registry to process if all your files are in order. Once the CR12 form is ready;
✓Log in to the eCitizen portal
✓Click on the business registration service
✓Click on the application
✓Click on download
✓The file will open in PDF format, and you can print it.
